REQUESTING ANY GENTLY USED BOOKS
In cultivating thinkers and good reading habits for each student, it is essential to have a wide variety of genres and different reading levels at the readers’ fingertips. Having a classroom library is a crucial element in the implementation of Readers Workshop. We are building our individual classroom libraries to support the development of reading and the enhancement of each child’s literary experiences. Based on the research from Richard Allington in What Really Matters for Struggling Readers, each classroom library should have close to 500 books – 8 to 15 books per student… so we welcome any donations of gently used books to help us reach our goal of 500 books in each classroom.
